CO2-Absorbing Cement

The cement market currently creates 5% of the world's CO2 emissions. A start-up company is developing a climate-friendly cement, which absorbs carbon dioxide as it hardens. A pilot plant is being constructed for producing test samples of carbon-negative cement.

Novacem estimates that for every tonne of traditional Portland cement replaced by its own cement, about three-quarters of a tonne of CO 2 could be captured and stored in construction products.
