WOODSTOCK ONTARIO – More accustomed to a red serge than red pumps, RCMP Const. Dan Meagher was among those who took a stand (on high heels) against sexual violence on Saturday, May 7.
About 85 people turned out to the fourth annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser for Domestic Abuse Services Oxford (DASO) in Southside Park, which raised more than $8,100 for a sexual assault counselling program. That's an increase over the $7,000 raised last year.
Having collected pledges to participate in the walk, a group of men slipped on women's footwear – from high heeled shoes to knee-high boots – and walked a lap of the park.
