Two curators from the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation were arrested on Tuesday for forging artefacts stored in the museum's galleries. They are accused of stealing authentic objects stored in the galleries under their responsibility and replacing them with replicas.

Late period bronze artefacts are in GEM storage, not missing: Ministry
Claims that nine Late period bronze artefacts are missing from the stores of the Grand Egyptian Museum are unfounded, the Ministry of Antiquities has said in a statement. The pieces have been in the same place since February when they were transferred from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square.
