The tragic dolls he then began to make are reminiscent of this.

Those are so soulful. They're like the post dead: what remains, soul?, after witnessing Holocaust. They have for me a sense of remorse for my own ills, that I may carry with me after I leave. (Pictures of Dorian Gray?) We can't change what's been. I wonder if we can prevent recurrences of negative past events. More and more, it looks not. So, there we are in Heaven.

It is a powerful reminder of how fortunate we are - a reminder to be grateful for what we have, and the people we love, and who love us. The happy moments when people make us smile and lighten our hearts - and when we lighten their hearts and make them smile - these seem to be little gifts but they are the largest gifts - and that's heaven right there. That negative stuff - we always try to do the best we can - and we slip up and it is terrible. People have such diverse motives and we are bound to clash and hurt and be hurt. The doll shows us the worst in us and we are meant to grieve for it and always try to do better.
