Israel pulls plug on Pat Robertson deal
Israel won't do business with Pat Robertson after the evangelical leader suggested Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's massive stroke was divine punishment, a tourism official said Wednesday, putting into doubt plans to develop a large Christian tourism center in northern Israel.

That is scary.

Someone should do a study where they have a group of religious right people and a group of non-religious people and they give them a gullability test. I bet the religious people are more likely to embrace bullshit. And once this is proven, take the results to the religious people and maybe give a course to teach them how to think for themselves. Wait - there was already a test - vast numbers of religious people support Bush. Dumb fuckers. Bush IS the armageddon! Religious right people in politics couldn't be allowed in the study cos they know damn well what they are doing.

I wonder if Pat Robertson sells mailing lists of his gullible followers so people could sell them useless shit only stupid people would buy.

That was a rant that just happened to land here. I think Bush's face got me started. aarrgggghhhhhhhh

I dunno if you saw it but Pat Robertson was planning a Holy Land Theme Park. Israel stood to make millions from the tourism. And I guess Pat thought that once he was entrenched in Israel he could get started on the task of converting Jews in advance of the coming armageddon. hehe

HA! Robertson puts his foot in it! Again!

It is shameful that people his age (as we typically place meaning behind a person's age, and fairly so), and people old enough at least to know better, subscribe to the twisted logic of televangelists.

Too bad it took over eight years of brainwashing and two and a half years of Christian college to convince me of that...

Televangelism is just about making money and has found its way into politics. I guess it's just good marketing. People are vulnerable because they believe - this makes those exploiting them so evil. Sometimes I think this whole resurgence of religion is just to make more money so the church can pay off all the priest kiddie fiddler lawsuits.

It is better to live life on your own terms, cos I gotta tell you, those religious types may be some of the most wicked around! And it seems to be more of a means of controlling people.

You seem to have come out of it quite well :-)

C.S. Lewis. What a fantastic quote. I feel sorry for the Christians I've known over the years. Very sorry. The confusion they deal with, trying to fashion reality to fit their theology. I'd get mad about it if it didn't sicken me so much to listen to the things they say. A televangelist or travelling preacher is capable, with the right amount of charm (heh, all things considered), to persuade people to dump out the contents of their wallets and purses and leave it at the altar, believing that their "financial blessing" was on its way. I've seen that. (You may have, as well.) All I could do was sit there shaking my head at that particular aspect of the human condition.

I think the good friends I made in college have disowned me, but one of them was all too aware of the twisted logic of the college administration. The school maxim we came up with for our Bible college was, "Do what you're told. We'll do the thinking for you."

Thanks for the vote of confidence ;) I believe I often take my progress for granted.

There was the Sinclair Lewis quote - "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the
cross." People who accept external control are easy to manipulate. And the people who manipulate are human and flawed and I would think people would be smart enough to notice that. At any rate, the mind was meant to be free and being good hearted ought to be enough.

hug :-)

Ooops, I thought it was C.S. Lewis. The characters in my e-mail got screwed up ;p

Still, hurray for huge amounts of wisdom in tiny bite-sized pieces!

*warm hugs*
